Already, there are many options available for better authentication based on biometrics. The options here include fingerprint scanning, iris scanning, facial recognition, speech pattern recognition, and hand dimension recognition (CITE). It is possible to implement such systems within a closed facility, but it would be very difficult to support remote login.
